Cormac & Gráinne Murphy are the owners and pharmacists in Murphy’s and are also a brother and sister team. Their introduction into pharmacy in Ballaghaderreen began in 2005 when they bought McAnena’s Pharmacy on Main Street and shortly afterwards opened a second pharmacy in the town, Murphy’s Pharmacy on the Square. The two pharmacies continued in business serving the health needs of the Ballaghaderreen community until unfortunately disaster struck on December 23rd 2014, when McAnena’s Pharmacy was destroyed by fire. Following this, they decided to combine the two businesses into one, un-sure at that time if this was going to be a temporary or permanent arrangement. With the help of the business advisory support of the totalhealth Pharmacy Group, the Murphy’s decided to move forward, invest in the future and create a one-stop fabulous pharmacy on the Square. The Murphy’s are now well placed to meet the growing healthcare needs of their customers, while retaining core values of a personalised and confidential service based around trusted, local, care.
